I measured some compactron sweep tubes and found some good ones among those too. I will cover those in future projects. I always only use one of the pins-

ThomasVinylSavorhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03255472557028244395noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2098337119765190876.post-70205364353628869042016-05-27T16:11:19.204+02:002016-05-27T16:11:19.204+02:00I don't suppose you traced the 6DQ5 in triode ...I don't suppose you traced the 6DQ5 in triode mode when you were playing with seeps tubes? On paper it looks like a good candidate. Pinout is slightly different than the 6CB5(a) but if you left pins 1 & 4 floating, they could be swapped w/o any rewiring. How important do you think it is to use both pins for G1 & G2?

RoscoeRoscoe Primrosehttp://www.dcaudiodiy.comnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2098337119765190876.post-56350415979784370802015-09-28T22:32:51.430+02:002015-09-28T22:32:51.430+02:00Thank you for the quick reply. I never compared them sonically. I am not a tube roller anyways. i am sure it will sound great

ThomasVinylSavorhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03255472557028244395noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2098337119765190876.post-78551580262190001972015-09-28T12:31:23.697+02:002015-09-28T12:31:23.697+02:00In the US the 6CB5A is not readily available from ...In the US the 6CB5A is not readily available from tube stores but I have found a source of 6CB5. Is there any sonic difference between the 2 tubes? Would the 6CB5 be OK to use in this amp?
