The Tweeter Amplifiers - Part 1

Hi!

Something new is in the works. A pair of mono blocks dedicated for the treble and midrange only.




They will be used in an active system just to drive the tweeters. Here a view of one of the amps partly assembled:




The transformers are made by Tango. The output transformers are the M757 which was specifically made for this purpose. Interstage is the NC16. Driver tube and output tube sit at the front and the rectifier tube in the back besides the power transformer which will later be hidden under a black transformer cover.




The tube line up will be revealed in part 2. Here we see the underside of the amp, partly wired up:




The chokes and some additional components are mounted on a sub plate:

  1. Given the task and the current ratings of the chokes my bets for an output tube are on a 10Y. I'm curious what's really going on :)
