Since I got some requests to also show the power supply of the linestage, I'm posting some more photos. This time with ST-shape Hytron VT25s plugged in:
Below, you see the linestage playing in the system, fed from my EC8020 LCR RIAA phonostage:

Wonderful implementation! I will be watching as I want to build a 10y or 26 preamp and 801A amp to run my edgarhorns. Really need quiet components for the 108db horns, but want to get away from PP amps and differential 6n1P preamp if possible.

Hi Matt,
ReplyDeletethanks!
It will take a while until I publish the schematics for such a linestage. The poll showed that people want to so SE amps and LCR phonostages first. As all my designs this linestage is available as a kit or partial kit (for example excluding chassis, or just the transformers and chokes). You can contact me any time in case you are interested.

Hi Thomas !
ReplyDeleteThe white lacquer gives your components a really distinguished look.
Very nice (to have, as eyes are listenin'..) !
Ciao, Hardy
Hi Hardy,
ReplyDeletethanks for the compliment. In fact I need to get a better camera. In real live the white varnish looks much better than on the photos.

Very nice, both the amp and the blog. Ever since your SP article I have been hoping for something like this
ReplyDeleteIt is very nice that you have done a poll on what topics to cover. And I can see that SE amps have come out on top. I hope you will take the opportunity to comment a little on SE vs. PP especially since you explored this recently with some of your low cost 6CB5A amps.
Henrik
Hi Henrik,
ReplyDeletethanks for your comment. Yes I did do a comparison betwenn SE an PP with the 6CB5A concept. The interstage transformer can be rewired as a phase splitter and drive a PP pair of the 6CB5A. Most people who heard it prefered the SE version, including myself. But some favoured the PP.

Ciao Thomas... indeed your triode preamps combo-in-white looks very elegant and classy, as I'm sure with a sound to par... maybe it's time to undust your old request about oversized solid bronze, custom-made knobs, don't you? Will fight against my always great laziness (and being busy...).
ReplyDeleteAgain my compliments..
Well done... as usually.
Best,
Stefano
Hi Thomas, Any chance of seeing the schematic? :)
ReplyDeleteCheers
