In the last post about the modular preamp, the PSU of the phono output stage was shown. The signal section is now finished as well.
This stage consists of a single transformer coupled E55L per channel. The E55Ls are triode connected. The output transformer has a slight step down ratio to provide low output impedance to be able to drive a TVC directly. 1:4 step up input transformers provide a sensible total gain. This stage will be driven from the low output impedance of a 600 Ohm LCR which is either integrated in the input stage or built as a separate unit.
The signal section is constructed in the same way as the power supply with sub assemblies mounted on aluminum plates which get stacked in sandwich fashion. The plates before assembly:
The same vibration damping mechanism is applied to the signal tubes E55L as used in the EC8020 phonostages.
The pre assembled modules:
All sub modules mounted together and partly wired:
The assembly completely wired and tested. ready to slide into it's wooden enclosure:
Yes, this is only half of a phonostage. Work on the other half is already in progress:
The input section is still waiting for some of the chassis material before it can be completed. Stay tuned!
