New 211 Amplifiers

Hi!

A new pair of single ended 211 amplifiers is in the making.

These will be in the same tower chassis as the recently shown 845 mono blocks.

Also similar parts, circuit and construction style with the diver stage adapted for the 211. Here an overview of all the building blocks for both amps:

The module with output transformer, B+ and filament chokes and the last cap in the high voltage supply:

The main capacitor bank:

More caps and a choke mounted on the other side:

The power supply section:

And lastly the connection terminal:

Stay tuned for more photos when these are finished.

Best regards

Thomas

  1. Thomas,

Are these also dual chassis? I'm asking because all of your 211/211 in past have been 4 chassis even for stereo.

Also can Tango interstage and opt be used on this version?

    Thanks

    1. Hi! Yes these are 2 chassis, one per channel. I have built several 2 chassis 211 amps and they are all on the blog

    2. Thanks Thomas. Can you verify if this is indeed 211 drives 211 dual chassis? The reason is because I only see one metal plate socket for the front 211 tube. The driver socket looks different. Is this because the top layout isn't done?

      Thanks

    3. Please read the post carefully, it didn't say 211 drives 211, it is a similar circuit as the recently finished 845 amps

    4. I see what you mean. Would a 211 drive 211 stereo amp be possible in dual chassis also?

      Thanks

  2. Another awesome looking build. Why did you put the sharing resistors in the capacitor banks in sleeves? Is it a heat issue? I ask because I have never seen that. My arms ache looking at all that iron.
