The Compactron Integrated Amplifier

Hi!

Here is the last of the initial wave of Compactron gear I built in the recent months. An integrated Stereo Amplifier.

It is based on the same interstage transformer coupled design as the Compactron Power Amp. With Input selector and volume control added.

All inputs are for line level sources. The Phono input is meant to connect to an external phono stage like the Compactron Phono Preamplifier.

The volume control is a stepped resistive attenuator.

Output power is 7W per channel.

This amp is the ideal heart of a minimalistic system.

Add the Compactron DAC and a pair of speakers along with a CD transport and/or laptop or other digital source and you are ready to go.

And the phono stage to cover vinyl playback as well.

Glowing in the dark:

Best regards

The Compactron Line Preamplifier

Hi!

Here is another completed build of the Conpactron Line Preamplifier.

It is similar to the first Compactron Line stage shown last year, except this one lacks the phase switch.

It is reduced to the minimal functionality required. On/off switch, volume control (which is a stepped transformer volume control) and input selector.

Two of the inputs are balanced using input transformers and two are single ended.

Outputs are available as XLR and RCA.

The gain is 9dB. But other gains can be specified when ordering such a line stage. Output impedance eis less than 200 Ohms.

When ordering such a unit the number of inputs and selection of balanced vs SE inputs can be specified as well as additional options like phase, balance, stereo/mono controls as well as tape loop.

And of course different colors.

The Compactron DAC

Hi!

A third version of the Comnpactron DAC is finished.

The first one had transformer coupled outputs and transformer volume control, the second one fixed transformer coupled output. This is the simplest version without volume control and with RC coupled outputs to RCA jacks only.

This time with blue front and back plates.

It has Both USB and Coax inputs.

First test run:

The Compactron Mono Blocks

Hi!

The next members of the Compactron family are finished. A pair of Parallel Single Ended Amplifiers.

The concept is similar to the Compactron Stereo Power Amp, but split into mono blocks and two output tubes in single ended mode for twice the power.

About 15W outpour power per channel.

The speakers connect via a pair of 4mm banana jacks. Input iOS fed through a RCA connector:

The same minimalistic design as all Compactron components.

A peek inside:

First test run:

Stay tuned for updates on the next Compactron units.
